Observation of -9 dB quadrature squeezing with improvement of phase stability in homodyne measurement.

چکیده
We observe -9.01+/-0.14 dB of squeezing and +15.12+/-0.14 dB of antisqueezing with a local oscillator phase locked in homodyne measurement. Suzuki et al. have pointed out two main factors in [Appl. Phys. Lett. 89, 061116 (2006)], which degrade the observed squeezing level:phase fluctuation in homodyne measurement and intracavity losses of an optical parametric oscillator for squeezing. We have improved the phase stability of homodyne measurement and have reduced the intracavity losses. We measure pump power dependences of the squeezing and antisqueezing levels, which show good agreement with theoretical calculations taking account of the phase fluctuation.

Surmounting intrinsic quantum-measurement uncertainties in Gaussian-state tomography with quadrature squeezing
We reveal that quadrature squeezing can result in significantly better quantum-estimation performance with quantum heterodyne detection (of H. P. Yuen and J. H. Shapiro) as compared to quantum homodyne detection for Gaussian states, which touches an important aspect in the foundational understanding of these two schemes. Taking single-mode Gaussian states as examples, we show analytically that ...

A simple but rigorous analysis of the important sources of noise in homodyne detection is presented. Output noise and signal-to-noise ratios are compared for direct detection, conventional (one-port) homodyning, and two-port homodyning, in which one monitors both output ports of a 50-50 beam splitter. It is shown that two-port homodyning is insensitive to local-oscillator quadrature-phase noise...

We produce a 600-ns pulse of 1.86-dB squeezed vacuum at 795 nm in an optical parametric amplifier and store it in a rubidium vapor cell for 1 mus using electromagnetically induced transparency. The recovered pulse, analyzed using time-domain homodyne tomography, exhibits up to 0.21+/-0.04 dB of squeezing. We identify the factors leading to the degradation of squeezing and investigate the phase ...
متن کاملOptimal squeezing, pure states, and amplification of squeezing in resonance fluorescence
Both theoretical and experimental studies have shown that the resonance fluorescence of a driven atom can serve as a source of nonclassical light. For example, Carmichael and Walls, and Kimble and Mandel [1] predicted that the resonance fluorescence from a single two-level atom driven by a coherent laser field of low intensity would exhibit photon antibunching. The prediction has been confirmed...
